Who killed the Netscape browser?

Did Microsoft kill the Netscape browser by offering Internet Explorer 3.0 for free OR did AOL kill it by purchasing Netscape and not developing the product any further?

I think Microsoft killed Netscape because they changed the model from pay to free for the internet browser.

Neither, the consumer killed Netscape browser when they found better web browsers. Web browsing is free, and Netscape is merely losing. Plus, Netscape browser still can be downloaded. here Newest Version as well.
